Jail movie review: what critics say (4)
What critics say Critics are largely negative: 1 of 4 rated critics gave it 3.5 or more, 2 gave it 2 or less.
Critic Score appears after 5 rated reviews. 4 of 5 so far.
The detailing is shoddy, the characters cardboard and the dialogue plain laughable. Jail is a formulaic, below average Bollywood headache, slowed down to lugubrious dullness.
Read the full reviewLike the director’s earlier films, Corporate, Traffic Signal and Fashion, his latest too is a slice-of-life drama about the characters and the way of life within the world he’s chosen to set the film in.
Read the full reviewWhat is good about Jail is that it deals with human behaviour in a non-filmy manner, at each step showing Parag reacting to situations just like a man of his character would in real-life.But sadly, there are no real highs or lows…
Read the full reviewIt’s the real world for Madhur Bhandarkar. And once again, he manages to create a hard-hitting canvas peopled with characters who manage to both disturb and touch your heart with their stories of distress.

How is the fan score worked out?
It is a Fair Score, not a plain average. Votes from brand new accounts, accounts that have rated only one film, several votes from one network, sudden bursts, and accounts that only ever give 1 or 5 stars count for less. A few early ratings cannot swing it. Nothing is hidden: we show the star bars above.
