The firm assertions that are peppered across The Taj Story would have achieved their avowed goal had the film been written better, mounted better and edited better. It isn’t.

In the end, The Taj Story is certainly designed to spark curiosity — and perhaps even challenge long-held beliefs. But the line between raising questions and pushing an agenda becomes blurry.

It started off well, but with a run time of three-hours, erratic writing and the faulty execution the second -half especially was totally disastrous and inconclusive. Sadly, there is not a single Wah Taj moment in the film!

In the end, ‘The Taj Story’ is a middling watch that plays safe within a familiar framework. It raises provocative questions but stops short of exploring them with nuance or restraint.

If you want to see an entertaining film that still educates and does it without any parochial or propagandist angle, The Taj Story is indeed your slice of history.

Paresh Rawal, as always, gives an earnest performance, but even he can’t salvage this disjointed mess.

At 165 minutes, The Taj Story trudges on without offering any real answers to the questions it raises. Instead, it merely stirs the pot, blending fact and fiction to serve an agenda far removed from historical inquiry.

Although the arguments in court get very technical at several places, the overall courtroom drama is quite entertaining.
