Badhaai Ho4/5
2018 · Hindi · Yahoo
'Badhaai Ho' is seasoned with a certain 'Delhiness' and is weaved together with lots of fun, laughter and a fine insight into traditional relationships in modern India. This one is a must watch.

Andhadhun3.5/5
2018 · Hindi · Yahoo
Before I say anything more, I suggest you watch 'Andhadhun' and then we can match our notes.
Stree3/5
2018 · Hindi · Yahoo
Much like Rajkummar Rao's 'Bareily Ki Barfi', 'Stree' is a small-town story that has its own charm. And also its fair share of laughs and scares.
2018 · Hindi · Yahoo
To be fair, 'Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi' is not unwatchable, just something you can unregretfully give a miss.
Karwaan3.5/5
2018 · Hindi · Yahoo
Director Akarsh Khurana manages to get some interesting characters other than the main leads who keep you invested in this tale.
Soorma3/5
2018 · Hindi · Yahoo
The flaws notwithstanding, I would recommend 'Soorma'. This is an inspiring story that needed to be told and needs to be watched. The movie may lack the sheen of some recent biopics, but I'd still say you go and watch it.
2018 · Hindi · Yahoo
In sum, this is not entirely unwatchable. Only, in trying too hard to play it cool, the whole experience comes across as somewhat pretentious.
2018 · Hindi · Yahoo
'Beyond the Clouds' is definitely worth a watch. If nothing else, Ishaan Khatter's character will make you want to believe in goodness and humanity.
Blackmail2/5
2018 · Hindi · Yahoo
"Blackmail" disappoints because it did have the potential to be an intriguing tale. If you must, watch it for Irrfan's delightfully nuanced performance.
Baaghi 21.5/5
2018 · Hindi · Yahoo
If you enjoy videogames where all your favourite character does is beat the opponents to a pulp then you will definitely like 'Baaghi 2'. I didn't. Obviously, I enjoy good cinema more than I enjoy a good videogame.
Raid2.5/5
2018 · Hindi · Yahoo
We have seen Raj Kumar Gupta deliver immensely engaging films such as 'Aamir' (2008) and 'No One Killed Jessica' (2011). 'Raid' pales in comparison. It is definitely worth a watch.
Pari2/5
2018 · Hindi · Yahoo
Watch it if you dig the horror genre – Anushka's acting is definitely worth a dekko, as hubby Virat as already publicly proclaimed.
Pad Man3.5/5
2018 · Hindi · Yahoo
As India hurtles ahead to match the developed world, it is only logical that her cinema follows suit.
Kaalakaandi2/5
2018 · Hindi · Yahoo
'Kaalakaandi' tries a fresh approach – it's for a niche audience with some edgy scenes and bawdy dialogues – but I am not sure if this is everyone's cup of tea. Watch it if you must.
2017 · Hindi · Yahoo
As the film unravels, it gets as clumsy and annoying as Varun's character. I laughed a bit and was interested for a while on how they would manage to arrange the money they needed, but eventually I was too bored to even care.
Qarib Qarib Singlle2.5/5
2017 · Hindi · Yahoo
I can't help compare 'Qarib Qarib Singlle' to 'The Lunchbox' and feel this one just doesn't tug at the heartstrings like the latter, which was a heartwarming tale that unfolded over inanimate letters.
Bhoomi1/5
2017 · Hindi · Yahoo
Omung Kumar's 'Bhoomi' is, to say the least, a disturbing film. The discomfort doesn't stem just from the dark motifs of rape and revenge, but also from the director's treatment of these sensitive issues.
2017 · Hindi · Yahoo
...despite the flaws, I enjoyed 'Lucknow Central'. In this nauseating Bollywood milieu of romances and revenge sagas, this one makes an honest attempt to break the monotony.
Baadshaho1/5
2017 · Hindi · Yahoo
The thing is there doesn't seem to be a single tangible plot point that seems to make sense in the entire scheme of things. The protagonist's manipulations seem contrived and superfluous.
A Gentleman3/5
2017 · Hindi · Yahoo
'A Gentleman' is a slick production that will keep you entertained. Just keep your expectations in check.
Jab Harry Met Sejal3.5/5
2017 · Hindi · Yahoo
This may be too simplistic for an Imtiaz Ali film but this one is a complete entertainer.
Mubarakan2/5
2017 · Hindi · Yahoo
This one is completely avoidable unless, of course, you just want to saunter into the theatre to enjoy 156 minutes of air-conditioning during the oppressive Indian summers.
Toilet2.5/5
2017 · Tamil · Yahoo
This film spends too much time discussing an issue with a very myopic view. The search for a plausible solution begins only two hours into the film, after the major part is spent dwelling on temporary workarounds.
Rock On 23/5
2016 · Hindi · Yahoo
'Rock On' showcases some good performances, but it doesn't recreate the youthful simplicity of the first part. And, most vitally, where is all the 'rock'?
2016 · Hindi · Yahoo
There are most definitely some moments that will give you goose bumps and the Dhoni's frustration often tugs at your heartstrings. But this story – the tale of one of India's favourite sons – could have been much more.
2016 · Hindi · Yahoo
I don't know what it is about Bollywood and its unsuccessful attempts at delivering one watchable superhero story.
Rustom3/5
2016 · Hindi · Yahoo
'Rustom' should have either been a taut mystery where the tension is palpable or a love story where the heartbreak and the betrayal are tangible. Sadly, this does neither.
Dishoom2.5/5
2016 · Hindi · Yahoo
I wish a film that looked so good, would have felt that good as well. Despite all the swag, this is one is tepid show.
2016 · Hindi · Yahoo
Watch 'Great Grand Masti' if crass 'humour' is your idea of fun. This one gave me a throbbing headache.
Sultan4/5
2016 · Hindi · Yahoo
This is a Salman Khan film and when it manages to entertainment all along, I am ready to overlook the nuances. For Salman's fans, Eid celebrations have definitely started early because this one is a sure winner.
2016 · Hindi · Yahoo
While this is a compelling story, there are just too many loopholes in this thriller to keep it gripping throughout its runtime.
Udta Punjab3.5/5
2016 · Hindi · Yahoo
'Udta Punjab' is definitely a must-watch, but for a film that is tackling so real an issue even the minor indulgences seem a bit much.
Fan3.5/5
2016 · Hindi · Yahoo
It's a shame that such an awesome plot suffers from such inept execution. Alas, that too in a film where Shah Rukh Khan has outdone himself as an actor.
Rocky Handsome1.5/5
2016 · Hindi · Yahoo
I would have loved to see an edgy action flick but the only dishy thing about 'Rocky Handsome' is John flexing his muscles and methodically beating the bad guys into a pulp.
2016 · Hindi · Yahoo
Shakun Batra proves that there is no substitute for good writing – the story is compelling, the dialogues are well written and the casting is perfect. The music is refreshing and just blends in never disrupting the narrative.
2016 · Hindi · Yahoo
The film is not a complete waste of time, there are instances where you want to get up whistle and cheer for Priyanka. Watch it for the performances; there are quite a few commendable ones here.
Neerja4/5
2016 · Hindi · Yahoo
'Neerja' deserves loud applause because not only is it an exceptional story of courage but because it is an ode to the undying spirit of humanity.
Airlift4/5
2016 · Hindi · Yahoo
It takes craft to weave a cohesive narrative that aptly renders the magnitude of this civilian extraction. There isn't edge-of-the-seat drama all the time but there's a human element that tugs at your heart.
Tamasha4/5
2015 · Hindi · Yahoo
Imtiaz Ali's 'Tamasha' plays out like a tamasha, it doesn't try to follow a formula. But I guess Ali stopped playing to the gallery quite a while back. Will his narrative work with the larger audience? I am not sure.
Prem Ratan Dhan Payo1.5/5
2015 · Hindi · Yahoo
I could go on and on about the banality of the entire plot narrative but I will just suffice it to say that there really is no point investing into this family drama helmed by Salman Khan.
Main Aur Charles3.5/5
2015 · Hindi · Yahoo
...an intriguing tale, neatly stitched together – it seemingly reconstructs a single incident (the jailbreak) and the subsequent events. However it provides an ambiguous insight into one of history's most astute "criminal" mind.
Main Aur Charles3.5/5

Shaandaar3/5
2015 · Hindi · Yahoo
There are a lot of good moments in 'Shaandaar' but they are not stringed together as seamlessly as they were in 'Queen'. I guess, the crux of the issue is that the plot here is not as solid and cohesive as the Kangana starrer.
2015 · Hindi · Yahoo
To be fair to the director, while the film is very biased, the humour is never cringe worthy. There are some moments of genuine fun but those aren't enough to make you overlook the many failings of this romantic comedy.

Jazbaa2.5/5
2015 · Hindi · Yahoo
Post interval 'Jazbaa' becomes immensely watchable as the investigation proceeds and you try to wrap your mind around the various findings of the seemingly open-and-shut case.
Katti Batti2.5/5
2015 · Hindi · Yahoo
'Katti Batti' is an immensely boring film. And what is infinitely more disappointing is that director Nikhil Advani has managed to rope in Bollywood's reigning queen for this job and yet fails to deliver on expectations.
Hero1/5
2015 · Hindi · Yahoo
Watch 'Hero' if you are a huge Salman Khan fan and want to catch his rendition of the title track with the end credits.
Welcome Back2.5/5
2015 · Hindi · Yahoo
...is not completely insufferable and there is definitely some fun to be had. It helps that John Abraham looks like a million bucks and seems to have enjoyed playing this part.
Phantom3/5
2015 · Hindi · Yahoo
Phantom could have been a terrific film but somehow it never really involves the audience completely into its narrative.
Brothers1/5
2015 · Hindi · Yahoo
Watching Karan Malhotra's 'Brothers' is like déjà vu. It's like re-watching the worst of the '70s – this film is as cliché-ridden as it can be.
2015 · Hindi · Yahoo
And that's the other reason, I like Zoya's films – you feel inspired to live the life you want to live and not the one you are supposed to. Average is not good enough, you want to break the boundaries and aspire for more.
2015 · Hindi · Yahoo
Aanand L Rai is sure commanding mastery over stories emanating from the North Indian heartland – the dialect, the nuances and the humour.
2015 · Hindi · Yahoo
Kashyap made films from the heart and it struck a chord and here, he dilutes his style, attempting cosmetic precision – and the film remains just that – a superficial story with superfluous characters.
Gabbar Is Back2.5/5
2015 · Hindi · Yahoo
'Gabbar Is Back' is not a complete waste of time, it is just a very problematic film.
2015 · Hindi · Yahoo
Detective Byomkesh Bakshy is definitely worth a watch but is it brilliant? Not really.
Dum Laga Ke Haisha3.5/5
2015 · Hindi · Yahoo
...is a fun watch. What is in fact commendable is that a banner like Yash Raj Films has put its weight behind a project like this one.
Badlapur4.5/5
2015 · Hindi · Yahoo
Watch Badlapur. Yes, it is disturbing, but it is by far the best revenge saga I have seen in a long time.
Khamoshiyan1/5
2015 · Hindi · Yahoo
Ali Fazal kind of holds the first half together, simply because we are still confused about the dead husband. But post interval it all collapses into a heap of inanity.
PK4/5
2014 · Hindi · Yahoo
Watch 'PK', I am sure no other recent film has doled out such genuine humour.
2014 · Hindi · Yahoo
After three hours (2 hours 25 minutes to be precise), which felt like eternity, the discombobulating was officially over. I hugged myself and advise that you do the same. What a waste!
Happy Ending2/5
2014 · Hindi · Yahoo
'Happy Ending' which aspires to be a romantic comedy has an insipid romantic track and a very, very flimsy humour track as well.
Kill Dil2/5
2014 · Hindi · Yahoo
There is dil, dosti, paisa and pyaar in this tale, but not a single moment of emotional connect that you can establish with the story or the characters.
The Shaukeens1.5/5
2014 · Hindi · Yahoo
It's a shame that film after film reeks of uninspired writing and lazy filmmaking. Are we really this bereft of ideas that we can't even replicate the success of a film that once worked?

Happy New Year3.5/5
2014 · Hindi · Yahoo
Despite the ifs and buts 'Happy New Year' remains immensely watchable because Farah Khan had the audience break into whistles and claps at regular intervals.
Hawaa Hawaai4/5
2014 · Hindi · Yahoo
The film is not flawless; yes, there are some clichés and some needless pandering to Muslim sentiments reminiscent of the movies of the 1970s. But I am willing to overlook those because this is a film with a heart.
2014 · Hindi · Yahoo
Expectations from a Kangana Ranaut film, post 'Queen' are immense. Kangana does not disappoint and that's why it is a pity that she is let down by a story that on paper must have held a lot of promise.
2 States3/5
2014 · Hindi · Yahoo
While the performances tug at your heartstrings, it's the labored pace that tests your patience. You enjoy it for the most part but the journey still tires you out.
2014 · Hindi · Yahoo
While the first half is breezy and super fun, the second half could have been a tad shorter; we spend too much time on the foreplay to the climax.
Ragini MMS 20.5/5
2014 · Hindi · Yahoo
My half star is for the unintentional fun that you end up having while watching'Ragini MMS 2' – the hero's poor impression of Rajkummar Rao and Sandhya Mridul's Rakhi Sawant act are over-the-top but mildly funny.
2014 · Hindi · Ys
Recession and employment are real issues for people who have lived through that stage of uncertainty and insecurity. It's the flippant execution of a real problem that just doesn't work in 'Bewakoofiyaan'.
Queen4/5
2014 · Hindi · Yahoo
Vikas Bahl deserves applause for steering clear of melodrama and sparing us long monologues. I guess he was right to be satisfied with this film; there is really no need to change a single frame.
2014 · Hindi · Yahoo
The complete lack of conviction translates on screen as a story that is half-baked and tepid at best.
Highway4/5
2014 · Hindi · Yahoo
It breaks your heart when you hear the sound of the gun pierce the tranquil and peace of the surrounding. You almost hear a silent tear roll down as we watch with bated breath.
Gunday3/5
2014 · Hindi · Yahoo
Despite its flaws, the various elements in 'Gunday' somehow come together and bring you a watchable film.
2014 · Hindi · Yahoo! India
The screenplay could have been tighter and the film could have easily been 30 minutes shorter. It's not an unusual love story, it is the quirky Meeta and some beautiful moments that make 'Hasee Toh Phasee' work.
Jai Ho2/5
2014 · Hindi · Yahoo! India
Salman Khan's box-office draw is indisputable but you can't circumvent every rule in the book and hope to just ride on star power.

Dedh Ishqiya4/5
2014 · Hindi · Yahoo! India
Abhishek Chaubey's 'Dedh Ishqiya' is entertaining, intriguing and humourous. He sure knows how to tell a gripping story peppered with generous doses of wit.
Dhoom 34/5
2013 · Hindi · Yahoo! India
'Dhoom 3' is big on style and completely delivers on the entertainment quotient. The fact that it comes at a cost of suspension of logic at times, I guess is a given.
Bullett Raja3/5
2013 · Hindi · Yahoo! India
...not completely unwatchable but we have come to expect a certain class from Tigmanshu Dhulia and it is sad to see him sacrifice that in a bid to make a commercially viable film.
2013 · Hindi · Yahoo! India
...is visually spectacular but the love story makes little impression.
Shahid4/5
2013 · Hindi · Yahoo! India
... is a compelling story, intense and engaging, definitely a must watch.
Besharam3/5
2013 · Hindi · Yahoo! India
Ranbir alone makes 'Besharam' watchable, approaching this film with complete sincerity and proving that he can even make shoddy writing look good.
The Lunchbox4.5/5
2013 · Hindi · Yahoo! India
Ritesh Batra's film is a winner all the way, an exceptional love story, where two individuals romance each other, much like the director romances Mumbai.
Grand Masti≈3/5
2013 · Hindi · Yahoo! India
...reeks of insensitivity and touches a new low as far as obscenity in Bollywood is concerned.
2013 · Hindi · Yahoo! India
...the film forays into an unexplored grey area in most romantic relationships but it doesn't really delve deeper. The protagonists never seem completely convinced about their feelings and may be that was intentional.
Satyagraha3/5
2013 · Hindi · Yahoo! India
Prakash Jha's films tend to be didactic but the unnecessary inclusion of a romantic track just dilutes the essence of the film instead of providing some much-needed respite.
Madras Cafe3.5/5
2013 · Hindi · Yahoo! India
...undoubtedly makes for an engrossing watch, a little more attention to detail and the film would have been brilliant.
2013 · Hindi · Yahoo! India
If you are a die-hard Shah Rukh fan and if you can overlook the many indulgences of the Rohit Shetty-style of filmmaking there is no reason for you not to love this movie.
D-Day4/5
2013 · Hindi · Yahoo! India
Nikhil Advani exhibits rare brilliance as he manages to sustain edge-of-the-seat suspense throughout. Watch it for an engaging story and engrossing performances.
Bhaag Milkha Bhaag4.5/5
2013 · Hindi · Yahoo! India
The film may belong to Akthar, but in the final analysis it is the work of a director in complete control of his material, and his craft.
Fukrey3/5
2013 · Hindi · Yahoo! India
'Fukrey' creates memorable characters and some sadi dilli nostalgia but the film never really becomes more than the sum of its parts.
2013 · Hindi · Yahoo! India
Sangeeth Sivan's 'Yamla Pagla Deewana 2' is organized chaos. Alas, garam Dharam can do little to salvage the sinking career of his two sons. The film remains watchable in bits and pieces for Dharmendra and Dharmendra only.
Aurangzeb2.5/5
2013 · Hindi · Yahoo! India
'Aurangzeb' is an engaging saga but it is very dialogue heavy where music or humour hasn't been used effectively to provide some respite. Arjun Kapoor and Prithiviraj Sukumaran rise above the slightly flawed execution.
2013 · Hindi · Yahoo! India
'Bombay Talkies' boasts of superb craft; crisp writing, skillful direction and brilliant performances. Four directors, four stories, one film; is there a common thread? Maybe.
Lootera3.5/5
2013 · Hindi · Yahoo! India
'Lootera' oozes with the allure of an old-world charm and Sonakshi befittingly plays the heroine of this epic drama. Vikramaditya Motwane's subtle love story has an inherent appeal but is weighed down by a labored pace.
Kai Po Che!4/5
2013 · Hindi · Yahoo! India
Kapoor's craft lies in the fact that though he has picked an unusual premise, he manages to keep his audience engaged throughout. He builds a beautiful canvas but doesn't make it formulaic at any point.
