Phillauri Movie Review

This is a shame, because Anushka Sharma, who has also produced this film, is one of our most intriguing actresses. She’s fine in her part, and often beguilingly pretty, yet the film wastes her.

Funny how after dodging dramatic vigour like a shortcoming, even at places where it would be viewed as benefit, Lal succumbs to a gimmick of a climax.

The actors sweep in and carry the film, though. With his body language and voice modulation, Suraj Sharma nails the confused-aimless millennial and lightens the mood.

Its a promising film that tosses around some ambitious ideas but its also weighed down by pacing issues and occasional script contrivances. Phillauri isnt a consistently smooth ride.

Phillauri has some spirited performance from its lead actors, unfortunately, the same spirit has not gone into the making of the movie.

The film has flashes of brilliance, but the tedious sequences go on for so long you think you have aged when you emerge out into the sunshine.
