Watching Madras Cafe is both frustrating and satisfying. The thriller based against the backdrop of the Sri Lankan Civil War is, in equal parts, muddled and moving. There are sequences of power and eloquence.

The film tells a story we already knew. Yet it scores because of the way Sircar maintains intrigue, teasing viewers with regular twists. Irresistible stuff if you love brain work in your movies.

How is the fan score worked out?

It is a Fair Score, not a plain average. Votes from brand new accounts, accounts that have rated only one film, several votes from one network, sudden bursts, and accounts that only ever give 1 or 5 stars count for less. A few early ratings cannot swing it. Nothing is hidden: we show the star bars above.
