Jaat Movie Review

Sacrificed at the altar of all that gruesome blood-letting and mutilated bodies hanging from the rafters and savaged women forced to huddle together is coherence and plot.

Sunny Deol has proved it yet again that age is just a number. It is time for Salman Khan to learn a lesson from him and do age-appropriate movies. This masala-inflected film is a must-watch for several reasons.

Jaat verdict:Jaat tries to pack a "Dhai Kilo" punch but lands more cringes than cheers. It's a Ramayana retelling where the audience is left digesting a violent mess in the name of mass.

But hold onto your seats because his next, Jaat, opens up in the remote jungles of Sri Lanka -- that itself is a visual wonder -- and barrels in from the moment Sunny comes on screen.

Sunny Deol, at 67, continues to shoulder that responsibility with ease—defying age and expectations, reminding us why he became a mass favourite with Gadar and Ghayal.

Unless you are an inveterate Sunny Deol fan, Jaat would be best avoided. But even if you are, the egregious violence and the monotonous plotting might prove to be impediments.
