Gustaakh Ishq Movie Review

Gustaakh Ishq bridges the gap between nostalgia and the present, making the right maiden production for Manish Malhotra. The chemistry between the leads feels effortless, more felt than performed.

And all three prime actors, Naseeruddin Shah, Vijay Varma and Fatima Sana Shaikh move neatly in ambience-appropriate Manish Malhotra clothes while they spout the language of a bygone era that perhaps existed only in Muslim…

Gustaakh Ishq feels like a cinematic revival of everything we once loved about Urdu story-telling, observes Syed Firdaus Ashraf.

There's something very endearing about Gustaakh Ishq -- a sweetness that lingers long after a scene. It's a tribute to old-school romance: the pre-mobile, pre-internet, love-at-first-sight era we've grown up hearing stories about.

Overall, Gustaakh Ishq meanders and sometimes tests your patience, but rewards you with a world that finds its emotional centre.

Vibhu Puri and Pradhant Jha have penned a story which belongs to a different era. The story moves on two tracks. Besides, there are back stories of the lead characters and hence there is enough scope for drama.
