While the film offers an interesting, novel concept and experience, the story would have benefited from a fresh conflict. But while it is interesting to a point, the script gets staid in the second half.

While the film has its share of taut moments, the emotions remain surprisingly muted.

The small attention to details, such as with the temple deity and a poor, nervous man’s babbling to the police in a tricky situation, are hilarious

On the whole, Hridayapoorvam is a nice, feel good, family film resting firmly on Mohanlal's charm.
