Rathnam Movie Review

Rathnam storyRathnam (Vishal) is a henchman who joins gangster Paneerselvam (Samuthirakani) as a teenager after he surrenders for a crime and saves the latter from a jail sentence.

Fifteen minutes into Hari’s Rathnam, the audience is shown a gruesome murder that calls for the cooperation of both Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu police.

In a recent interview, director Hari claimed the astonishing success of Ghilli’s re-release has given him hope and that he can now come up with stories with confidence and courage.

The story revolves around Rathnam (Vishal), who is the right-hand henchman of MLA Panneer Selvam (Samuthirakani). Rathnam, who saved Paneerselvam as a boy, calls him uncle and has his complete backing.

'Rathnam' is a clichéd mass masala entertainer that is neither massy nor has masala.

It's your typical Hari formula – action-packed, fast-paced, and unrelenting – but even by his standards, the logic takes a backseat in Rathnam.
